WHOLE HEART

A therapeutic wood puzzle that heals inner wounds through the physical act of restoring the dismantled pieces to a cohesive whole. 

 “My heart is broken,” people describe their sadness in a metaphor that is physically non-literal, but yet emotionally accurate. I visualized the metaphor and created this therapy puzzle to help people meditate by enhancing the gesture of “restoring". An abstract graphic heart will reveal at the end of this puzzle therapy, marking a new start, with a whole heart.

This is a project in responding to a school project from MICA graduate program, which called "AKA (Also Known As)", which allows me to use my imaginations and create a design for my alter ego. 

My alter ego is a puzzle maker who is also a clinical therapist. Combining the two personas provides a perfect platform for this metaphoric mending of hearts. I used digital design methods, laser cutting tools, and also physical woodworking procedures to complete this project.
